Our completed research project “EcoCoat – Sustainable Powder Coatings for Industrial Applications” has recently been published in Oberfläche-Online, the digital journal for industrial surface technology.
Funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU), the project investigated the development of more sustainable powder coatings through the use of bio-based or renewable raw materials and recycled materials. At the same time, it examined how energy consumption could be reduced by using lower curing temperatures.
More than 35 powder coating formulations were developed and tested as part of the project. Four base formulations successfully passed the tests and met industrial standards. The reduced curing temperatures enabled energy savings of up to 30 % and a reduction in the CO₂ footprint of a coating by up to 70 %.
The project was carried out jointly by iLF Magdeburg GmbH, Ganzlin Beschichtungspulver GmbH and the CMMA at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.
We are delighted about the publication and the opportunity to present the results of EcoCoat to an interested specialist audience.
